Job Description



Do you have experience with HIV Prevention and testing planning and coordination? If this is you, then what are you waiting for Apply now to work with the Office of Communicable Diseases (OCD) as an HIV Prevention Coordinator  for the HIV/STD Elimination, Analysis, Response, and Treatment (HEART) program. This program merges HIV Prevention and Surveillance program together with the Ryan White Part B and STD Prevention programs.

As the HIV Prevention Coordinator , you will work with the HIV Surveillance team to assess community trends and potential gaps. With this information you will then develop, implement, and evaluate HIV prevention initiatives. In order to be successful in this position you need to have demonstrated knowledge of HIV prevention or sexual health education/interventions, possess top-notch communication skills, in both writing and speaking, and have the ability to facilitate trainings and provide technical assistance to providers. These efforts include access to PrEP, PEP, and HIV testing, along with Linkage to Care for those recently diagnosed. This position supervises two direct reports, the Program's Community Engagement Specialist and the HIV Syndemics Specialist.

Notes: Due to the nature of this position, compliance to the Utah Department of Health Employee Immunization policy is required. Occasional travel will also be required with this position.

Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS) :

Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.

Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. 

Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))

Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.

Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

Paid Time Off :

Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).

Annual leave amounts increase with years of service. 

We have 12 paid holidays.

Example of Duties

Principal Duties 
As the HIV Prevention Coordinator  you will be responsible to:

Oversee HIV testing initiatives, partner services, and linkage to care activities. Participate in grant management activities. Oversee activities associated with HIV Prevention. Conduct trend and gap analyses utilizing data provided by HIV epidemiologists.  Provide program support to HIV Prevention Specialist and HIV Community Engagement Specialist. Act as the contract coordinator for all HIV prevention related contracts with local health departments and community-based partners.

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate

HIV and Communicable Disease Knowledge and experience.  Has Federal grant reporting experience. Has Government contract management experience. Effective written and oral communication. The Candidate Must have Professional experience engaging multiple stakeholders, organizations, and professions. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Excellent organizational skills. High proficiency with computer programs. Ability to work independently on projects.

Working Conditions:

The typical office setting for this job is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. However, you may encounter some risks that are associated with any office setting, for example, the safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Hybrid teleworking is available. Physical Requirements: Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
