As a BoosterPet team member, you will have the opportunity to meet pets and pet parents throughout the greater Seattle metropolitan area as we partner with local community businesses to provide wellness care to pets via our Mobile unit and brick and mortar locations. Assistants must possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and teamwork skills.

A Veterinary Assistant takes care of animals that come into the facility and maintains the facility itself. 

A Veterinary Assistant may have the following responsibilities:  

  • Play an active role in the BoosterPet medical team to provide quality medical care, model BoosterPet’s core values  
  • Ability to triage and complete vitals on behalf of our DVMs  
  • Be tech savvy  
  • Support BoosterPet urgent care services and wellness as needed 
  • Complete detailed medical records with thorough medical history. Ensure medical records are accurate within the practice management system  
  • Educate animal owners  
  • Liaising with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure continuity of patient care  
  • Follow all safety protocols to ensure safety of pets, clients, and team members  
  • Administering medications and vaccines prescribed by a veterinarian  
  • Maintain medication clerk licensure  
  • Obtains and verifies medications  
  • performing phlebotomy duties, and providing intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous (SQ) injections 
  • Restrain pets in a manner that allows necessary work to be performed, minimizes stress to pets, and ensures the safety of pets and people  
  • Assist at front desk/kiosk and greet clients/patients upon entry  
  • Answer phones and make appointments as needed  
  • Administering first aid for emergencies  
  • Knowledge with the RECOVER guidelines 
  • Help technicians induce/monitor and recover anesthetic patients  
  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging  
  • Maintains safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing operating areas, verifying shelf life of medications, maintaining equipment and complying with legal regulations  
  • Train new employees on standards of operations  
  • Safely drive to various locations in the Pierce and King County area to support BoosterPet clinics as staffing needs arise  
  • Other duties as assigned by managers 
Requirements
Experience required.
Medication Clerk license preferred, will help you obtain if not currently licensed
