A Brief Overview
This role is responsible for assisting the clinical provider with patient care including patient work-ups, diagnostic testing procedures, and administrative tasks.
Responsible for daily patient care and flow of assigned clinic. Position requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care. Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications. Knowledge of ophthalmic instrumentation and its proper care and usage needed. Ability to assess common safety hazards and take precautions to establish a safe work environment required. Ability to communicate with patients, coworkers and supervisor is critical. Must be willing to help in all areas and understand the need for efficient use of time.
Travel to satellite offices in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey is a requirement for this position.

Intermediate proficiency in the performance of the ophthalmic technician work up (Required proficiency) Intermediate proficiency in the operation of ophthalmology diagnostic testing equipment (Required proficiency) Advanced knowledge of eye anatomy, physiology and pathology (Required proficiency) Basic knowledge of pediatric ophthalmology (Required proficiency) Basic knowledge of HIPAA regulations (Required proficiency) Intermediate proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC) (Required proficiency) Intermediate proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office) (Required proficiency) Strong verbal and written communications skills (Required proficiency) Solid interpersonal skills (Required proficiency) Solid organizational skills (Required proficiency) Solid critical thinking / problem-solving skills (Required proficiency) Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels (Required proficiency)Licenses and Certifications
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) - within 12 months - Required or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) - within 12 months - Required
