Job Description
TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE , Biology-Martin Lab, to join an interdisciplinary research team. During embryogenesis and organogenesis, tissue movements are driven by collective changes in cell shape. The investigates the molecular, cellular, and tissue-level mechanisms by which forces sculpt tissues. It uses the fruit fly and mouse model systems to image and analyze cell shape and force transmission in embryos. The technical associate will focus on pursuing a project regarding force generation and transmission in tissues; perform mouse husbandry/genetics, manipulate and image embryos, and perform molecular biology tasks; help serve as the health and safety officer for the lab; and contribute to other lab jobs at a level equal to other lab members. The project will be either independent or in support of another lab member. Others who have held this position have matriculated to graduate school.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences; at least two years of research experience; experience with standard molecular biology practices; ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. This lab participates in the diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts of the department and members of the team are expected to participate in these efforts. PREFERRED: experience with Drosophila and/or mouse model systems, and Ph.D. in biology or related field.
