Position Summary:

The Security Department is seeking a Security Team Member. This position upholds rules and regulations while ensuring the safety of the High Point University campus community.

Qualifications:
 

Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Experience/Training:

Minimum 1-year applicable security, law enforcement, military or 3 years of customer service experience within the last five yearsMinimum 18 years of ageNo felony convictionsNo motor vehicle moving violations within the past year and no alcohol-related convictions within the past 5 yearAcceptable credit historyValid North Carolina Driver License

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

Ability to pass a physical agility test, drug screening, medical and psychological assessmentProficient in Microsoft Office productsAbility and willingness to work nights, weekends and holidaysAbility to work in a physically active work environmentAbility to work effectively and productively in a group/team environmentEffective interpersonal and customer service skillsWrite acceptable reports

Essential Functions:

Upholds and enforces HPU rules and regulations in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Staff HandbooksEnsures the safety and security of the campus/buildingsResponds to emergency calls and reports of crimesConducts routine patrols of campusConducts fire inspectionsMaintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students, parents, faculty, co-workers and managersDocuments unusual occurrences and incidentsInvestigates violations/crimesAssists/Liaison with HPPD et al LEOsClery compliancePhysical security design, implementation and operationsAssist with building unlocks for students, staff and facultyResponds to emergency calls and reports of crimesConducts routine mobile, bike and foot patrols of campusTransports students for medical and non-medical needsEmergency “first responder” for aid and comfortMedical aid, e.g. AED, CPR, NarcanMotor vehicle assists with minor vehicle needs of students, to wit: gas refills, tire inflation and vehicle unlocksIdentifies and reports safety hazardEnsures all fire panels and alarms are working properly and report any interruptions or communication problemsDirects traffic on campusParking management and enforcementAssists with special eventsReports lighting and equipment outages and maintenance problemsPerimeter protection to include vetting of incoming partiesExecutive protectionSecurity personnel profession developmentOther duties as assigned
