  • Assist physicians, employees, patients, and visitors with issues that require supervisory assistance.
  • Aid in patient care and provide relief coverage for employee rest and meal breaks.
  • Coordinate staffing for nursing in acute patient care areas.
  • Assign nursing and ancillary staff to nursing units according to patient care needs and staff competency.
  • Communicate with nursing and hospital administration regarding matters requiring immediate action.
  • Ensure contract staff have appropriate credentials, orientation, and evaluation dates completed.
  • Audit registry invoices and approve them for payment.
  • Promote professionalism among staff and foster teamwork across units.
  • Round on all acute inpatient units within the hospital at least 3 times per shift, or more if necessary.
  • Maintain current nursing practice through attendance at education programs, seminars, or continuing education.
  • Ensure nursing license is current and in good standing with the state board of registered nursing.
  • Demonstrate competence in caring for diverse patient populations including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Treat patients and families with compassion, dignity, and respect at all times.
  • Care for patients when necessary due to decreased staffing or in emergency situations.
  • Account for the safety of staff, patients, and visitors and adhere to service excellence standards.
  • Ensure departmental operations meet or exceed guidelines established by regulatory agencies.
  • Understand and comply with Title XXII, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements related to key functions.
  • Manage nursing staff of the acute patient care hospital and infusion clinic.
  • Provide clear decisions and communication in line with the organizational strategic plan.
  • Act as the nursing administrative supervisor and resource staff while making rounds throughout the acute care hospital.
  • Complete death packets on expired patients and make timely notifications to donor alliances and the coroner's office.
  • Act as a pharmacy liaison after hours, on weekends, and during holidays when a pharmacist is not on campus.
  • Maintain current knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and provide support to staff.
  • Resolve issues in a timely manner and perform service recovery when necessary.
  • Assume the role of incident commander after hours, weekends, and holidays during emergencies until proper individuals arrive.
Experience you will need: Nursing Supervisor ER FT Nights
  • Required: Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 5 years’ experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
  • Previous nursing supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current California Registered Nursing license.
  • Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification.
