The Facility Department at Penick Village Continuing Care Retirement Community is seeking an experienced Grounds Lead to join their team. The Grounds Lead plays an essential role and is intimately involved in maintaining healthy and esthetically appealing grounds throughout the community for enjoyment of residents, employees and visitors.

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the position of Grounds Lead is to work under the direction of the Facility Director and to have the important job of creating the first impression for new prospects, residents, employees and anyone else that visits the campus of Penick Village. This position is a very busy and a very physical job that is good for an energetic individual who takes pride in their work.

Major Job Duties:

Conferring with the Facility Director, concerning proposed work assignments.

Responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance work.

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all equipment and tools in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsible for requisitions and ordering of all items needed to maintain the grounds and to maintain all equipment and tools.

Responsible for all Grounds related work orders

Knowledge and Skills Ability, Training and Experience:

Graduation from grammar school and at least three (3) years of experience in grounds up keep.

Must have a good working knowledge in the care of grass and grounds.

Must be able to notice possible lawn and grounds diseases and notify Facility Director of problems.

Must know how to operate ground equipment, including lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and hand tool equipment.

Must be able to perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment and perform basic repairs to equipment.

Physical Requirements:

This position will require walking, stooping, standing, lifting, pushing, sitting, and work on rooftops.

Work will range from heavy lifting i.e. lawn mowers, fertilizer, etc. to operating machinery and equipment.

Employee will remain on feet for long periods of time.

Must be able to work outside in heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Must be able to work inside around dust and greasy machinery.
