Drivers on this local position will operate in SC and GA.

Shift details:

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday with Saturdays being mandatory if the account is prevented from working 5 full days Monday – Friday and the customer has work available.
  • Start time: 04:00-06:00
  • Shift: DOT hours of service apply.
  • Home every night
  • Driver PTO: Immediately - 1.5 hours per week, 6th anniversary - 2.5 hours per week per company policy

Position Details:

  • Picking up logs at work sites to deliver to mills.
  • Driver will be responsible for operating a tractor and bolster trailer picking up at logging sites, this involves unpaved roads and working in the elements.
  • Driver will be responsible for strapping down the logs and flagging the overhang along with the safe operation of the vehicle under load while on rural back roads and State highways with final delivery at the customers mill(s).
  • Driver will be required to be outside of the truck in designated area while being loaded.
  • Driver must be able to follow written directions and read a paper map without the use of turn by turn navigation. Applicant must be able to demonstrate this ability in person if needed.
  • Most routes operating within 150-mile radius from Walterboro, SC. (Eastern South Carolina and Northeast Georgia)

Special Requirements:

  • Being able to work/drive during inclement weather is a requirement.
  • Average load time is 30 minutes, unload time on average is 30 minutes.
  • Driver will be delivering to the customers various mills and will be checked in and weighed upon entering the mill then drive to the designated location within the mill and remove the strapping and flags then proceed to the final unloading location.
  • Driver will be operating in off road conditions which will be unpaved muddy, sandy and not always clearly marked and will need to know how to maneuver in these harsh conditions. Some of the sites we operate in require the truck to be pulled through the mud to the cut site by use of a skidder, the driver will be responsible for handling the rig loaded under these conditions safely.

Additional information:

  • Uniform: Over the ankle lace up steel toe boots along with hard hat, reflective safety vest, safety gloves, and safety glasses must always be worn during pickup and delivery.
  • Uniform shirts are required and provided by J.B. Hunt
  • Steel toe over the ankle boots required: JB Hunt approved footwear will be ordered.

Truck Information:

  • Day Cabs; log trailers
  • Automatic Transmissions
  • Truck will remain at account during time off
  • Passengers are not permitted.
