The Director of Design Experience is responsible for leading the development and ongoing evolution of the real estate strategy for design across our 4 distinct asset types (office, medical, pharmaceutical and data centers). Partners with our functional RES delivery teams, key internal stakeholders (i.e., Marketing and Branding) and supports our real estate customer relationship managers representing the businesses real estate needs. This role oversees design delivery including performance management of in house and third-party provider teams driving high quality employee, patient, and provider experience through a solution-driven, cost effective and efficient design solution.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead, develop and motivate team of in-house design experts and third-party providers to deliver quality solutions for our office, medical and pharmaceutical locations across the domestic UHG portfolioDemonstrate thought leadership in designing employee, patient, and provider experiences, while maintaining fiscal responsibilityCollaborate closely with the Real Estate Centers of Excellence and Strategy teams to ensure efficient processes, effective programming, and successful planning and design deliverySupport the execution of UHG’s sustainability goals that impact design experience and deliveryOwn performance management of third-party services providing architectural and other design services (flooring, art, furniture, branding.) support to customer relationship managers and UHG businessesProvide input into project budgets and delivery. Effectively communicate the financial impact of clinical design and workplace strategy in business termsCollaborate with the Real Estate Centers of Excellence teams and other UHG stakeholders, including Corporate Services, Sourcing and Procurement, Health and Safety, Security, Sustainability, Technology, and Finance, to meet the needs of all UHG stakeholdersProvide consulting and SME for Real Estate international design and delivery teamPerform benchmarking and continuous research on healthcare and workplace trends to identify new innovations and their potential applicability to UHG businessesFacilitate issue resolution to ensure a high level of credibility between the Business and RESServe as SME for real estate design and workplace strategy

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in healthcare and/or office design industryExperience in a leadership role managing teams and suppliersWorking real estate experience (Designing, Planning, Projects)Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships. Solid interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the organizationDemonstrated ability to take complex analysis, summarize at an executive level, and make sound, data driven recommendationsFlexible and creative thinking and problem-solving abilityEffective, experienced leader of cross-functional teams. Experience working in a dynamic and matrix-oriented environmentDeliver results through best practices and consistent service deliveryAbility to travel up to 25% nationally

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
