We are recruiting for a prominent healthcare organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals across Texas.

They are currently seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Chief Actuary to join the executive team and provide strategic leadership in actuarial functions within the health industry.

The Chief Actuary will play a critical role in shaping the organization's actuarial strategy, driving financial sustainability, and ensuring accurate risk assessment within the health industry. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Actuary will oversee a team of actuaries and actuarial analysts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive actuarial models, pricing strategies, and financial projections. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of actuarial principles, extensive experience in the health insurance industry, and exceptional leadership abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the actuarial department, aligning actuarial strategies with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of actuarial models, methodologies, and tools to evaluate risk, analyze claims experience, and forecast healthcare costs and trends.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, finance teams, and other key stakeholders to develop pricing strategies, product offerings, and financial forecasts that support business growth and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including state and federal laws, regulations, and reporting standards relevant to actuarial functions in the health industry.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in actuarial science, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement in actuarial practices.
  • Lead and mentor a team of actuaries and actuarial analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and high performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent professional actuarial designation.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible actuarial experience, preferably within the health insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and developing a team of actuaries and actuarial analysts.
  • Strong knowledge of actuarial principles, methodologies, and industry regulations.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software and tools, as well as advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex actuarial concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
