Purpose/Introduction

We are currently seeking qualified individuals to join our team as a Conventional Instrument Technician for our Sweeny, Texas facility. The applicant should have a positive attitude and strong work ethic. As an Instrument Technician, they will be required to climb, bend, lift, and perform a wide range of physical activities; have the ability to work at various heights, and the ability to listen and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

Comply with all health, safety and environmental practices and policies. Required to wear proper PPE in appropriate areas and be able to move in and around process equipment and confined spaces. Follow plant policies and repair procedures. Calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing and replacing process instruments as a part of the plant's maintenance program. Maintaining process instruments including valves, electronic and pneumatic instruments, vibration monitors, electrical governors, and others. Responsible for after hour coverage. Performing regulatory required environmental compliance testing and documentation. Perform corrective and preventative maintenance activities on instrumentation in operating units during daily operations, equipment turnarounds, and projects. Responsible for reducing cost of repairing equipment while maintaining or increasing the quality of repairs. Work closely with plant operations evaluating work request for both routine and emergency instrument work.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma/GED with a Certificate of Instrument technology and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in process instrumentation in a refining or chemical complex OR an Associate's Degree in Instrument Technology. Manufacturing plant experience in process maintenance related to Instrument Technology. Ability to diagnose and locate circuit, component, and equipment faults. Ability to read schematic drawings or product manuals to repair parts. Ability to interact with other departments to coordinate equipment repairs. Strong commitment to safety. Good troubleshooting skills. Ability to complete assigned project in a safe and timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

Factory training and repair of control valves, electronic governors (Triconex, Woodward), ABB, Invensys, or Yokogawa DCS Configuration, ABB, or Siemens Analytical equipment, Bently Nevada vibrations systems, and/or PLC's
