JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Under the supervision and direction of the Vermont Licensed/Registered Nurse, Perioperative Management (ACU, OR, ENDO), Providers and Anesthesia personnel the Perioperative Technician performs various direct and indirect patient care activities in accordance with the Nursing Department policies and procedures. The Perioperative Technician will assist in setting up and turning over procedural rooms, maintain appropriate supplies and equipment for procedures, and functions as a liaison with Material Management and Central Sterile Reprocessing. Duties also require management of instruments, equipment and sterilizing equipment while supporting the Surgical Team. Assist with the care of any patient and a variety of functions related to patient registration, guest relations, order entry and supply management. Performs a variety of other duties related to preparing for the surgical/endoscopy patient and maintaining the ACU environment. These duties are primarily performed in Perioperative Services Units and upon request in other nursing units in the hospital. 

EDUCATION: 

Current LNA license to practice professional nursing in the State of Vermont is required. Please refer to department-specific Pay for Performance expectations. 

EXPERIENCE: 

Prior experience as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in a health care setting is preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform basic nursing care skills. Experience with order entry in a hospital setting preferred and basic knowledge of medical terminology.
