ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate gear pick- ups and drop offs with fishermen and net hangers. Keep net yard organized and clean. Keep logs of incoming and outgoing nets and gear. Work with port engineers to stage and move gear on and off the dock. Expediting. Must be willing and able to live and work in confined quarters in a multi-cultural environment. Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Performs the work of a processor or other job, as necessary. Prompt, reliable, and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be able to drive a forklift. Must have a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs Must be able to take direction without question or argument Must be able to work with a wide variety of people Must have general computer knowledge in order to keep and update logs Must be willing to work all hours of the day and night Must be able to take instruction and complete any tasks asked, without question Must be able to switch roles at a moment’s notice in order to help with new tasks Ability to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision Must have the ability to work well under pressure, 12 or more hours per day, 7 days per week Must be willing to live and work in confined quarters

COMPENSATION:

Pay rate depends on experience. This is an hourly position that is eligible for overtime pay. In Alaska, overtime is one and one-half times the regular hourly rate and is paid for hours worked over 8 hours in a day and after 40 hours are worked in a week. Room and Board Included. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Candidate must be able to perform well consistently for 12 or more hours a day for 7 days a week through seasonal peak seasons.

Most of the work is done in an office setting however this office supports a fast-paced seafood processing plants which produces fresh, frozen, and canned products, as well as the associated by-products. It can be noisy, have varied ambient temperatures, a lot of foot traffic and have the smells associated with a seafood.

Working Schedule:

This position is seasonal, covering both the pre and post season time as well. The estimated timeframe is mid-May through mid-August, but this timeline does vary depending upon the season.
