Position Details:

Location: Colonial Healthcare, a part of Optum - Little Street, Camden, SC

Schedule:Monday - Thursday, 8am-5pm and Friday, 8am-12pm (Employee will need to be flexible on end of shift time if patient(s) is still in office.) / No evenings, weekends, or holidays

Primary Responsibilities:

Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistanceAdministering medications and injectionsVenipuncture for lab drawPerforming EKGs, Spirometry, Flu and Strep TestsMaintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operatingVerifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visitPrepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summarySaves doctors’ time by helping with office proceduresSecures patient information and maintains patient confidence and keeping patient information confidentialProcess ReferralsMaintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulationsKeeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receiptKeeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairsUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publicationsServes and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirementsEnhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or completion of an equivalent adult education programMedical Assistant diploma, technical certificate or certification OR 3+ years of experience performing the critical skills of a medical assistant after on-the-job trainingActive medical assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA or RMA)

Preferred Qualifications:

CPR certification3+ years of clinical experience in a Family Medicine settingExperience working as a Medical Assistant or EMTExperience with electronic medical record softwareExperience performing medical back office tasks including obtaining vital signs, injections/immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis and administering medicationsExperience performing medical front office tasks including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills and referrals
