Role Summary
The Director, Public Affairs, will lead Servier’s engagement across the United States, ensuring patient access to Servier medicines and raising awareness of our initiatives, including our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and commitment to patient care. This position will identify key issues in federal and state legislation and regulation that could impact the company and patients. Informed by collaboration across functions, lead efforts to develop strategies to mitigate risks and harms while also proactively pursuing opportunities to bring our medicines to the patients who need them. This role leads the Public Affairs function and sits on the Corporate Affairs leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities
Working with the US business, the Director, Public Affairs will develop, lead and prioritize Servier’s legislative and regulatory engagement and strategy in the states and D.C., with a focus on key states and priority issues.

Shape and influence public policy to support favorable regulatory and legislative environments for our medicines. Monitor and analyze state legislative and regulatory developments with potential impact to Servier’s business and patient access to medicines. Identify risks and opportunities and develop strategy for engagement on priority issues, collaborating with internal subject matter experts and aligning with leadership. Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, and industry associations to advance our regulatory and legislative priorities. Educate internal stakeholders and business leaders on emerging trends and existing risks and opportunities at the state level, while also seeking their input and feedback to inform government affairs strategy and engagement. Contributes to internal and external advocacy and educational materials and provides support to leadership in external engagement. Manage state government consultants, and contract lobbyists if needed, to ensure their work advances Servier’s priorities and brings sustained value to the organization. Manage the public affairs team including personal, strategy and KPIS.

Education and Required Skills

Minimum 12 years combined experience working in government, government affairs, trade association, pharmaceutical company experience required Experience working with oncology platforms and the regulatory and legislative bodies that govern those platforms Experience working on state legislative and regulatory issues required Knowledge of state legislative and rulemaking processes; experience researching and analyzing complex public policy issues required Expertise in oncology and with physician-administered medicines preferred Experience building state government affairs function preferred Experience managing personal preferred
