The Tax Senior Staff is an integral part of the tax department who undertakes a wide range of duties which include but are not limited to tax return compliance support, tax research and planning, audits and appeals, and involvement in special projects. Must exhibit a high level of attention to detail and understanding throughout the compliance preparation process. Tax Staff Senior provides direction and technical guidance to less experienced staff, suggests effective tax planning for PDS and related entities, and assists with process improvement initiatives.

Acts as a lead to oversee and ensure timely compliance with all Indirect tax reporting, displaying proficiency in preparation and assembly of related documentation. Assists to establish processes and manages outcomes for all new deadlines generated from opening new locations or the creation of new entities. Manages the effective use of the sales & use tax filing software. Trouble shoots any issues for tax specialists and works with the software vendor to successfully resolve all issues. Prepares/reviews written correspondence with tax agencies, dental offices, and intercompany communications. Performs complex Indirect Tax research and writes written memoranda. Additionally, provides summary research information in a variety of formats. Maintains an extensive knowledge of property tax classification categories and trending factors in various jurisdictions. Develops a working knowledge of business operations and acts as a subject matter expert and guide to tax specialists in order to respond to complex tax inquiries from dental offices and other PDS departments. Conducts analysis, transactional research and compiles reports utilizing multiple software platforms including Thomson Reuters Compliance, EPIC, and the Oracle Cloud ERP environment. Acts as a super user in these software environments and provides guidance and training to tax specialist users. Assists with state and local tax audits & appeals. Mentors, supports, and assists in the development and training of tax department indirect staff. Strong organization and follow-up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Accounting, Finance or Business (or equivalent in relevant experience) plus 3 or more years of experience related to indirect tax work. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED:

CMI in Sales & Use & Property Tax Experience with Thomson Reuters or similar Tax Determination & Sales/Use Compliance software
