SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician I (MET I) supports all aspects of automated manufacturing equipment set up, calibration, and preventative maintenance procedures on production equipment. The MET I assists in all aspects of the day to day maintenance support of the production areas. The MET I works under direct supervision. This position reports to MET I Area Group Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing procedural preventative maintenance Understands basic mechanical theory and is able to use mechanical hand tools Possesses basic electrical knowledge to perform related tasks safelyUnderstand basic theory of vacuum systemsFollows documentation to perform calibration tasks Possesses basic knowledge of hydraulics to perform related tasks safely Performs in process adjustments including documented changeovers Is able to perform pneumatic adjustments and must understand the theory of regulation and flow and pressure. Is able to identify parts during repair and identify sensors.Understand PLC’s (inputs and outputs)Vacuum station responsibilitiesMust follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum educational requirement includes a technical degree or certificate preferred. Minimum experience includes at least one year manufacturing technician experience preferably in a high-volume, applicable industry. Working knowledge of PLC’s inputs and outputs, pneumatic adjustments and common documentation (PS, SOP, PMP, PHA, GSP, MI’s) and reports.

REASONING ABILITY

Must possess the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex data, drawings, schematics, to design and

implement new equipment or planning new experiments. Requires interpretation of complex data for designing new devices or planning new experiments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc. manufacturing processes.

The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and test equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
