We are searching for a Medical Assistant (TCP Pearland) — someone to gather information, assess and provide direct care to patients. Works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to render age-appropriate care.

Knowledge of medical terminology Familiarity with all business office machines, i.e., computer, multiline telephone, copier and fax machines fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED Graduation from a medical assistant, emergency medical technician, or LVN program BLS American Heart Association certification 

Preferred Qualifications

1yr related experience  Bilingual (Spanish) 

Demonstrates SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families and coworkers

Acknowledges the customer Identifies self Gives customer a time expectation Keeps customers informed by explaining all tasks, processes and procedures Thanks, the customer Adheres to Standards of Behavior Tasks are measured by observation of evaluator

Responsibilities: 

Assists in the collection of patient/family data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol.  Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight and reason for visit with 100% accuracy. Updates documentation to include if patient has received care at any other location since last visit. Participates in quality improvement initiatives that support patient care Administers medication and immunizations as directed by provider per practice protocol. Identify patients eligible for Vaccines for Children Program and follow procedures for accurate documentation and management for this state funded program. Provides patient/family education as instructed by the provider or practice protocol.  Documents such education in the electronic health record. Documents eligibility in electronic health record per practice protocol.  Identifies and documents network providers for appropriate referral.  Notifies provider when no provider in network is available. Screens presenting patient complaint per practice protocol, using electronic health record for documentation.
