Job description
Mechanic, Sheet Metal Sr. Specialist - Level IV
The Sheet Metal Mechanic Sr. Specialist is responsible to maintain, modify and integrate components into major assemblies. They are responsible for assisting in the development of co-workers, by coaching and mentoring other mechanics in best practices for quality objectives. They will be involved in activities like assembly, installation, repairing of sheet metal and composite products. The Sheet Metal Mechanic Sr. Specialist must have a thorough understanding of the department KPI’s and be knowledgeable of what is needed to obtain/maintain them.
Responsibilities:
Maintain, modify, and install the various components of aircraft sheet metal and composite assemblies and structures. Install and fabricate complex aircraft structural assemblies. Ability to perform any level of rework with little or no supervision, and the ability to train others on re-work methods. Extensive knowledge and proficiency of precision measuring devices. i.e., micrometer, ball gauges, dial calipers, scales and all other calibrated devices. Has the ability to train others? Maintain documented records of work accomplished. Works from and to engineering drawings, blueprints, manufacturing specifications and procedures. Has the ability to train others. Adheres to quality procedures and instructions both written and verbal. Notifies supervision of all malfunctions, defects and damages of material, equipment and/or product. Expected to keep all areas clean, neat, and orderly. Train others on 6S Preform visual and functional inspection of operations to ensure product meets all requirements and specifications. Has the ability to train others. Assist in development of co-workers, by coaching and mentoring other mechanics. Assure final quality acceptance of installation and configuration of all components, i.e., rivets, fasteners, holes, sealant, torque, and all other components that are applicable. Ability to perform mechanical functions in any or all of the following examples: precision drilling, close tolerance holes, reaming, countersinking, cold working of metal, installation of rivets and fasteners. Adhere to all company policies and safety programs. Supports and attends and may host Continuous Improvement activities. May be required to assign job tasks and follow up for completion. Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Accredited GED Ability to read and speak English proficiently required in order to perform the job. 7 years of experience in aircraft sheet metal structural assembly, or a combination of aircraft structural assembly and MRO Repair experience. Demonstrated abilities to use MES / MEDS, pull up, interpret, and work from drawings and specs. Meets all physical requirements.Physical Requirements: lifting, climbing, grasping, holding, standing, bending, stooping and ability to work over head.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
