Position Overview

Venza Care at Cullman Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Care Coordinator- LPN to join our nursing team. This critical role will focus on providing specialized respiratory care and support to residents with chronic respiratory conditions, ensuring optimal lung function, and improving their overall quality of life. The Respiratory Care Coordinator will work closely with our healthcare team to assess, treat, educate, and support residents, as well as reduce hospital readmissions. 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Resident Assessment and Care Planning:
  2. Conduct thorough respiratory assessments, including lung function, oxygen saturation levels, and symptom evaluation. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans that promote residents’ health and comfort.
  3. Therapeutic Interventions:
  4. Administer prescribed respiratory therapies, such as nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, and spirometry. Manage and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators, ensuring safety and functionality. Use airway clearance techniques to support optimal respiratory health.
  5. Resident Education and Support:
  6. Educate residents and families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies. Provide guidance on lifestyle changes, breathing exercises, and techniques to improve lung function and comfort.
  7. Documentation and Compliance:
  8. Maintain accurate, timely documentation of resident assessments, treatments, responses, and care provided in the electronic medical record system. Ensure adherence to facility protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
  9. Team Collaboration and Training:
  10. Work closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate respiratory care within the resident’s overall treatment plan. Assist in training nursing staff on respiratory care techniques, equipment use, and monitoring symptoms.

Qualifications

  1. Licensed Nurse with Respiratory Training:
  2. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), with specialized training in respiratory care. Certification in respiratory therapy or completion of a respiratory care program is preferred.
  3. Skills and Abilities:
  4. Strong understanding of respiratory conditions and treatments, with the ability to perform accurate assessments and deliver appropriate interventions. Excellent communication skills for educating residents and families. Compassionate, detail-oriented, and calm in emergency situations. 

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to lift, position, and assist residents, perform chest compressions, and manage emergency situations.
  2. Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the shift.
