TITLE: Data Science Intern 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Science Internship allows students to work alongside our Data Science and Technology teams to create value for our customers by defining and piloting new and innovative solutions. These capabilities will optimize the customer journey in order to further American Eagle’s position as a leader in fashion and retail. The Data Science team engages in high-impact business projects that utilize latest technology, including and not limited to Advanced ML algorithm, GenAI, LLM model tuning, recommendation algorithms, which the intern will have the opportunity to partner on.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, results-oriented, and an excellent communicator. This individual should have sound understanding of statistical modeling, and a keen interest in learning new algorithms that will help them solve business problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with a Sr Data Scientist to to deliver a solution, in line with defined expectations Engage business stakeholders throughout the execution of a project, ensuring that what is delivered meets the business’s goals and objectives Explore the possibilities with GenAI solutions for the organization Blend business acumen, technical problem solving and agile execution Define metrics of success and analyze results 

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

The internship will be 10 weeks from May 29, 2024 until August 2, 2024 Each intern will be considered seasonal/temporary in nature Each Intern will be assigned a Coach & Mentor to guide them through their experience Each Intern will be assigned a project which will be presented to AEO Management at the conclusion of the Internship Relocation assistance provided to be local & work at the AEO Pittsburgh, PA Corporate HQ 

TRAINING OVERVIEW:

Opportunities to learn about different solution in the data science space On-the-Job learning & training with assignments guided by an individual Mentor Opportunity to communicate with and work with Executive and senior management Bi Weekly self-evaluations to understand progress throughout program 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Students are eligible after they have completed their junior year at a 4 year college or university; First year Master’s students are also eligible  Preferred majors include a Technology or Statistics related degree – Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Innovation, Maths & Statistics Interest or previous experience working with innovative solutions  Minimum 3.0 GPA required Strong organizational, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, specifically Excel as well as Python

PAY/BENEFITS INFORMATION:

Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
