Job Overview:

The Lead Gardener will perform all general gardening functions including, but not limited to, weeding, trimming, watering, flower arrangements, mulching and all maintenance on the neighborhood monuments and Jonathan owned common areas. This position will work directly with the Community Association Manager, and the Senior Groundskeeper to identify potential concerns proactively address maintenance and upkeep while providing exceptional customer service. This position is for May - September. 

Your Responsibilities:

Work with the Community Association Manager and Senior Groundskeeper daily for needs of the community and to report any new maintenance concerns. What’s Right, Own It, Improve It, and Build Great RelationshipsMust maintain regular and punctual attendance to required shifts, meetings, trainings, and related employment engagements to support position responsibilities and duties. Any alterations to the required schedule must be reviewed and approved, in advance by your supervisor.Identify maintenance and cleanup needs of common areas.Respond to and close out work orders in a timely manner.

Maintenance of Common Areas:

Clear and trim brush, shrubs, and treesWater trees and grass as needed/directedTreat and/or remove weeds or other hazardous material in common areas.Community gardens: Oversee opening and closing of the community gardensComplete maintenance service requests, document the status of each request and ensure the appropriate follow-through occurs and the deadlines are being metTurn in daily or weekly progress reportsAbility to operate golf cart and weed whip and trimming toolsWork directly with the Community Association Manager to meet and exceed the needs of the JonathanFollow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Community Association Manager.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be organized and detail orientated able to see outside of the boxAlways conduct business with the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct.Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work.Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management Company and Community Association Manager.

Skills & Qualifications:

High School DiplomaA minimum of 1 year of grounds keeping work experience including the safe operation of bobcat, trimmers, snow removal equipment and similar equipmentExperience in maintaining landscaping and garden areasExcel, Outlook, and Word experiencePerform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.Excellent people and communication skills with knowledge of customer service principles and practicesPreference to work outdoors, able to operate landscaping equipment including mowers and leaf blowers.Excellent people and communication skillsAbility to interact professionally with residentsOrganized self-starter with ability to work independently but also able to work in a team and take direction from the Community Association manager.Ability to perform quality work without direct supervision.Ability to problem solveTime management skillsTeamwork-focused, to motivate members of the team, delegate tasks to peersExcellent written and verbal communicationConsistent professional demeanor, able to handle varying personalities

Physical Requirements:

A majority of the work is performed outdoors; must be able to work in varied weather conditions.Must be comfortable working with equipment including but not limited to: Golf cart, leaf blowers, weed whip and general power tools.Able to perform manual labor such as shoveling, planting, hand watering.Ability to lift to 30 lbs. following appropriate safely procedures.Being able to work in various positions, including but not limited to bending over, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
Walking the property. Ability to navigate the property quickly and easily as required to meet the job functions.Repeat various motions with the wrists, hands, and fingers. Compensation: $24-$25 an hour
