Trainings:

The Clinical Training Specialist develops and facilitates in-person and online trainings

Provide training and professional development to staff working in mental health, supported housing, developmental disabilities programs, shelters, veteran’s services, substance use disorder services, and other settings in New York City. Provide post-training follow-up support to ensure best practices are skillfully implemented by ICL staff Help provide bi-weekly New Employee Orientation on clinical themes Create curriculum for presentations, trainings, and coaching sessions Help coordinate Clinical Rounds series of special-topic trainings for staff agency-wide Work with workforce development team to develop follow-up surveys, assessments, and other outcome activities to monitor impact of trainings

Clinical Program Support

The Clinical Training Specialist helps create and manage special projects that support ICL programs for people with behavioral health issues and/or developmental disabilities

Conceptualize and design special projects that help programs support clients’ efforts to achieve recovery in trauma-informed, integrated health settings. Research evidence-based and best practice interventions to meet program needs Support implementation of evidence-based and best practices in clinical work, and work with program managers to address barriers to implementation Provide consultation and technical assistance to program managers and staff, as requested Represent Workforce Development in Clinical Risk Consultation Team meetings (high-risk case conferences) Meet with program staff following distressing incidents to prevent development of secondary traumatic stress as part of our SECURE supports for the ICL workforce Participate in the development of manuals, training curricula, and other clinical tools, to ensure program managers have the resources they need to provide high-quality clinical services

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent presentation skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong understanding of recovery oriented services and trauma informed care Ability to work with diverse employees Ability to facilitate trainings for diverse audiences

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have at least three years’ experience working in a clinical setting with people with mental illness or co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness Current, valid licensure as a LCSW or LMSW, or as a licensed psychologist with clinical and supervisory experience, or licensed in a related field (eg: creative arts therapy) preferred. Experience developing curriculum Experience providing staff development trainings Training in evidence-based or best practice models in mental health, such as Motivational Interviewing, CPI’s Non-violent Crisis Intervention model, DLA-20, trauma-informed care, SBIRT
