  • Producing estimate level preliminarydesigns and material takeoffs suitable for the level of theestimate being performed on a project.
  • Produceinstallation details motor control center single lines electricroom layouts motor control elementaries connection diagrams cableschedules control panel layouts and grounding lighting power andinstrumentation plans under generalsupervision.
  • Producing designs with efficientuse of construction materials with an overall emphasis on ease ofconstruction and completed product meeting the expectations of theclient.
  • Checking calculations made by otherengineers to ensure accuracy conformance to codes specificationsdesign criteria and conformance to good engineeringpractice.
  • Assisting the drafting group inresolving routine layout and detailing problems. It is yourresponsibility to furnish sufficient sketches and details necessaryfor completion of engineeringdrawings.
  • Consulting with design leaders fromother disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital informationnecessary for the scheduled completion of theproject.
  • Advising the senior engineerconcerning design or scope changes which have beenidentified.
  • Assisting other engineers indeveloping and assembling scopes drawings and specifications into apackage enabling electrical/instrumentation purchase inquiries tobe issued for procurement of materials or subcontractpricing.
  • Reviewing and checking vendor drawingsand other discipline drawings for electrical/instrumentationinput.
  • Developing constructionspecifications.
  • Reviewing fabrication drawingsand other construction submittals for conformance to engineeringdrawings and specifications.
  • Performingfieldwork necessary to gather field data check tieins and provideconstruction support.
  • Knowledgeable of thediscipline specific methods practices and techniques required toengineer design and construct process and manufacturingprojects.
  • Applying advanced engineeringtechniques and analysis to complexdesigns.
  • Estimating and scheduling professionalservice hours and assessing the progress and quality ofelectrical/instrumentation work.
  • Completeunderstanding of the skills and experience required to performengineering and design functions.
  • Ability toidentify and develop work sharing packages for interofficeexecution support. Provide leadership to ensure communication andexecution of work within scope schedule andbudget.

Education: Bachelor or Masterof Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accrediteduniversity is required.

Registration: ProfessionalEngineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This positionrequires 10 years of relevant industrial experience in electricaland instrumentation engineering.

  • Knowledge and application of the currentversion of the National Electrical Code(NEC).
  • Ability to perform lighting levelcalculations.
  • Ability to size wire conduit andovercurrent protection for both lighting and powerapplications.
  • Ability to perform voltage dropcalculations.
  • Ability to route conduit andcable tray.
  • Ability to calculate tray andconduit fill.
  • Ability to determine motorcontrol center loading.
  • Familiarity withspecifications and installation details of construction bulkmaterials and equipment.
  • Ability to createaccurate electrical installation documents from the informationfound on vendor equipment drawings.
  • Ability todetermine load center unit substationloading.
  • Ability to develop equipmentspecifications for equipment such as motor control centers variablefrequency drivers induction and synchronous motors load center unitsubstations etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding ofschedule constraints and information requirements for theproduction of all electricaldeliverables.
  • Ability to produce a 15kV powersystem single line diagram.
  • Familiarity with15kV power system equipment and installation techniques both aboveand below ground.
  • Ability to develop equipmentspecifications for 15kV/5kV equipment such as switchgear load breakswitches motor control center and capable of performingcalculations for required short circuit and overcurrent protectivedevice ratings.
  • Ability to develop electricalinstallation specifications.
  • Ability toaccurately estimate completion of assignedtasks.
  • Ability to develop a construction costestimate a detailed engineering schedule and a manhour budget for asmall project or an area for a largerproject.
  • Ability to determine constructionmaterial quantities.
  • Ability to contribute tothe development of P&IDs with respect to measurement andcontrol.
  • Ability to develop controlnarratives.
  • Ability to specify processinstrumentation and develop installationdetails.
  • Ability to size control valves usingappropriate software.
  • Ability to developspecifications and data sheets for instrumentation analyzerscontrol systems and actuated valves.
  • Knowledgeof the standards that apply to instrumentation and controls(ISA).
  • Ability to act as discipline engineer ofrecord for projects that require professional engineeringcertification.
  • Knowledge and application ofcompany engineering design and CAD draftingstandards.
  • Ability to lead a small team todeliver on commitments.
  • Ability to deliverpresentations of Hargrove Engineers & Constructorsservices.
  • Working knowledge of CAD softwareeither AutoCAD Microstation or both.
  • Proficientin the use of Microsoft Word Excel andOutlook.
  • Excellent communication skills bothverbal and written.
  • Excellent presentationskills.
