Job Summary

The Preschool Teacher instructs children in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth needed for primary school.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others and using play equipment
  • Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care
  • Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid over stimulation and fatigue
  • Helps children develop habits of caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books
  • Serves meals and refreshments to children
Job RequirementsKnowledge & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child Development
  • Successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching required
  • Appropriate certification (if applicable)
  • Knowledge of individual and group activities designed to stimulate growth in language, social and motor skills
  • Medical appraisal by a licensed physician (within 3 months prior to the first day of work)
  • State police background check and completion of the Safe Environment Program and background check
  • Child care check
  • Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.  (Sometimes this requirement may be satisfied by a person who has knowledge of and is willing to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church)
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Frequent interaction with young children, parents and other preschool personnel; must be professional and tactful with all interactions.
  • Responsible for supplies and equipment used to perform work
