Job Summary

The Development Officer is responsible for developing and executing fundraising initiatives and programs to help achieve the organization’s overall mission and goals. This position involves researching, prospecting, cultivating, and managing relationships with donors, as well as coordinating fundraising activities. The Development Officer ensures that the organization’s development efforts are successful, and that donor support is maximized. Campaigns include Annual Giving. Team Member Giving, Major Gifts Solicitation, Grants, Special Events, Planned Giving, and Capital Campaigns. The Development Officer is the liaison to the Cape Regional Auxiliary.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement fundraising plans to meet annual and long-term fundraising goals. Research prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. Research, develop, submit, and maintain reporting requirements of grants for specific programs and services offered by the organization. Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors. Prepare and submit proposals to solicit donations. Manage and track donor records, contact information, and history. Organize and maintain development materials, such as brochures, direct mail campaigns, grant proposals, and presentations. Participate in donor meetings, presentations, and events. Develop and implement recognition and stewardship strategies. Prepare fundraising reports, budgets, and other documents. Stay informed of fundraising trends, techniques, and technology. Liaison and support to the Cape Regional Auxiliary.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, marketing, communications, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in fundraising and development preferred. Demonstrated success in managing and meeting fundraising goals. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software. Willing to work evenings and weekends.
