About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in supporting one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The Software Engineer provides web application and collaboration solutions in support of the Organization’s technical mission and its day-to-day operations

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Must be within 100 miles from Lexington, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities:

Full lifecycle application development. Designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages. Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis. Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD). Software modeling and simulation. Front end graphical user interface design. Software testing and quality assurance. Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation. Supports, maintains and documents software functionality. Integrates software with existing systems. Evaluates and identifies new technologies for implementation. Maintains standards compliance. Implements localization or globalization of software

What You'll Bring:

  • Proficiency in Python (3.x)
  • AI application development, with a focus on generative AI, ML, and NLP.
  • Azure and AWS platforms including AI-specific services such as Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock
  • Understanding of AI concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and deep learning
  • Familiarity with popular AI frameworks and libraries, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Data processing and analysis, including data visualization and storytelling.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex AI-related issues
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working within an Agile development framework
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with at least 5 years of experience

Must Have:
  • 5 years Data processing and analysis (data visualization and storytelling)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years Agile Development Process
  • 1 years AI application development (generative AI, ML, and NLP)
  • 1 years AI frameworks and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn)
  • 1 years AI-specific services (Azure OpenAI and AWS Bedrock)
  • 1 years Troubleshoot complex AI-related issues
  • 1 years Understanding of AI concepts (supervised & unsupervised learning, neural networks, & deep learning)
  • 5 years Python (3.x)
  • 5 years Azure and AWS platforms

Scrum Methodologies

Apache Solr and creating data pipelines for search products

Containerization (Docker, podman, etc.)

Location: REMOTE - This position is VIRTUAL. The candidate can work remotely but they MUST live within 100 miles of Lexington so that they can come into the Lab if necessary for the needs of the program. The onsite work will NOT be regular.
