With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park. The Endoscopy department at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital is a highly specialized, full-service department meeting the needs of inpatient and outpatient clients. The lab specializes in Upper Endoscopy (EGD), Esophagoscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Small bowel enteroscopy (SBE), and Video capsule endoscopy. The endoscopy staff consists of a NP, RN�s and technicians who are overseen by an Endoscopy Supervisor. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Under the direction of an RN and/or physician, the Endoscopy technician assists with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including transporting patients, disinfecting and process equipment, preparing the procedure room, and assisting in patient care. Responsibilities Processes instruments and equipment, orders and keeps inventory of supplies, and maintains equipment. Maintains database for endoscopy, and keeps accurate statistics pertinent to endoscopy. Transports patients and assists patients with changing. Trains staff in areas specific to endoscopy instrument processing, supplies and the maintenance of equipment.
