Position Summary:

The Career Connections Development Coordinator provides support, guidance and training for the development and implementation of the career planning process utilizing district individual career academic plans in the districts secondary schools. They will promote the use of career programs of study including the career academies to help facilitate the work. Essential Duties: Develops and implements departmental objectives and present to the Director of College Career Readiness for approval. Works directly with district staff in the development of a district wide career/academic advisement plan/template for secondary sites through the college career readiness department. Assist schools in the development of site plans for implementing individual career academic advisement plans for all students that are aligned with the district strategies and standards. Annual review/revision of career pathways for use in Oklahoma City Public Schools. Identifies appropriate career related activities to be included in individual site plans, career academies and CTE programs and provides training programs for staff relative to career and academic planning including information regarding non-traditional careers. Identifies resources needed for career/academic advisement. Collaborate with district staff to determine additional training needs to ensure inclusiveness of all students and site/special populations. Work directly with district career academies, career technology education programs and sites to help monitor career and work-based related activities. Develops and manages the district Career Academies including monthly professional collaboration with academy coordinators and business advisory committees and development of academy standards and operational/documentation requirements. Works collaboratively with counseling services and special education services to provide information to counselors pertaining to career advisement, course placement, academy placement and academic career plans. Makes recommendations for necessary policies, regulations or modifications to such as they relate to career planning initiatives. Develop a career/academic advisement evaluation process/toolkit to implement at secondary sites. Develop and maintain a "Career Central" site for information, resources and timeline related to career planning and career activities. Participate in departmental and district activities related to career development, planning and post-secondary transitions Identify areas of improvement and develop an action plan for career and technology programs designed to improve student learning excellence.  Assist in the collection of data for reports and progress measures which may include the preparation of district external funding applications for career and technology education programming; maintains accountability records for grant funding reports. Promotes positive public relations for the district's Career and Technology Education Programs and the Oklahoma City Public School District along with promoting the strategic aims of the Oklahoma City Public School District. Maintain professional affiliations/memberships to remain current in field and represent district at local, state and national professional development events. Promote the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Specifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required): Master's Degree in Career Technology Education or related field. Five (5) years teaching in a career tech program area or related field Oklahoma Career Technology Education Certification in one or more of the program areas. Ability to work some evening and weekend activities. Ability to prioritize work to produce expected departmental results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Maintain Customer Service relationships with both internal and external customers  Valid OK Driver's License with a reliable mode of transportation to perform duties of position. Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required): Three (3) year's work experience outside of K-12 education sector.
