Overview and Essential Functions

TelCom Construction is currently hiring for a full-time Fleet Inspector. This traveling position is responsible for ensuring that the Company’s vehicle fleet and construction equipment are properly maintained and in compliance with Federal and State commercial fleet requirements.

What will you do?

Inspects Company owned vehicles and equipment to set standards in regard to the following:DOT inspection, as requiredOil change, fluid levels, greasing and other ongoing maintenance (including cleaning)Registration and insuranceIncurred and reported damage Reports licensing and insurance needs and errors to the Fleet Department; Reports maintenance delinquencies to the Shop Supervisor and applicable Division Management; Performs DOT driver’s field tests as needed Extensive travel throughout the TelCom footprint is required Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

In depth knowledge of DOT equipment requirements; Ability to identify equipment types and sizes used in the telecommunications industry; Ability to recognize symptoms of lack of appropriate vehicle and/or construction equipment service; Commitment to compliance with and communication of service needs; Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, correspondence and memos; Effective and respectful written and verbal communication with all applicable stakeholders, both internal and external, at all levels of the organization; Problem solver and logical thinker; Team oriented, keeping the organizational needs at the forefront. Familiarity with Google-based applications such as G-mail, Google docs and sheets. Proficient use of computer hardware and software including but not limited to Internet software and databases. Understanding and use of general arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, units of measure and weight using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends as needed. Maintains current DOT health card. Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record required – Class A license preferred.
