Description
Under general supervision of the office supervisor and medical staff follows established policies and procedures; gathers and records all necessary information to assist with financially clearing a hospital or TGMG procedure or service. Responsible for obtaining and verifying patient demographics, confidential clinical and financial information necessary to accurately and efficiently schedule patient visits, surgery, and other hospital procedures. Assists with patient check in’s, insurance notifications and authorizations for oncology scheduled hospital and TGMG services to support claim processing and reimbursement. follow up calls post-surgery and appointment to patients and answers all staff messages. Recognizes and adheres to all CMS, JCAHO, and HIPAA requirements when validating the hospital account. Works directly with nurses, medical staff, ancillary departments, insurance carriers, care management/utilization, HIMS, scheduling, and other external professionals to assist patients with obtaining health care and financial services. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and (2) years experience with scheduling, registration, insurance verification in a healthcare setting. Moderate expertise with computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Database programs.
