Planner/Designer Roles and Responsibilities
- Planner/Designers are expected to prepare distribution design packages that support the safe and efficient installation, maintenance and operation of the company's electric facilities while providing economic and timely service to the customer. In the performance of these duties, the estimator will interface with internal and external
- Internally, planner/designers are expected to consider the needs of various departments in their work processes. Facility design must be coordinated with foreign utilities through the Joint Use Department. Construction sketches must comply with our mapping standards. Where appropriate, corrective maintenance should be considered for inclusion in capital work and the plan communicated to the FPI
- Externally, planner/designers are expected to produce economic designs that meet the customer's design and load requirements. However, in this pursuit, the planner/designers must protect the interests of the company by enforcing company policy, construction standards and tariff policy.
- Investment reasons must be justified, documented and comply with the goals of Investment Delivery or Work Planning. Job packages must be well organized for efficient approval and processing by service coordinators, managers and company
- Contracts must be written to comply with legal and regulatory Finally, planner/designers are expected to base electric designs on company standards as well as provide feedback when design standards are incomplete, unclear or otherwise deficient.
Project Management
- Planner/designers are expected to manage their projects as they move from design through completion. They are responsible, in part, for meeting budget and scheduling
- Planner/designers are expected to communicate requirements and updates to the customers. Current requests must be actively managed for customer information complete status. Old requests must be closed or voided as policy instructs.
- Planner/designers are responsible for informing crews of scheduling limitations, access conditions, permit requirements or any other issues that could impact crew performance or safety.
- Planner/designers are expected to understand, pre-authorize, and process crew redlines. When estimate design is challenged, planner/designers should be prepared to provide authoritative documentation for their design decisions.
- Planner/designers are professionals and must conduct themselves as subject matter experts whether that is with the customer, line crew, or managers.

- Employees are expected to correctly interpret and apply the Tariffs, Line Extension Contracts, Construction Standards, GO95, National Electric Safety Code, Electric Service Requirements, Joint Use Agreements, Franchise Agreements, and the Facility Point Inspection program.
- Employees are expected to provide complete, accurate, and well-designed estimates in a timely manner while complying with all requirements of the Customer Guarantee Program.
Safety

- Follow and enforce the Accident Prevention Manual, you are responsible for the enforcement of safety and the compliance of all PPE's.
- Report all safety hazards and violations immediately to your
- Report any injury, accident, or incident to your supervisor and complete your portion of the AWAIR report.
- Attend all safety focus meetings and training that involve your group. If you are unable to attend, review the minutes and discuss them with your supervisor or safety representative. From these meetings, you will also be responsible and accountable for all delivered contents.
