Position Summary:

The Paralegal is in a critical position within the legal department at AdaptHealth. The position will primarily focus on drafting real estate corporate governance documents, and other contracts. Support General Counsel, outside counsel along with our executive team with legal administrative duties.


Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

  • Drafts contract amendments, easements, objection letters, and other documents related to the real estate for Corporate Counsel’s review.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and assisting with the drafting of real estate documents including, but not limited to, purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, lease agreements, closing documents, and other vendor contracts.
  • Reviewing and analyzing lending requirements, title affidavits, legal descriptions, property condition reports, environmental reports, title history reports, title commitments, zoning reports, and bankruptcy claims.
  • Handles the preliminary review and compliance of various documents supporting the real estate acquisition process, including, but not limited to title documents, executed contracts, leases, and other legal due diligence materials and supporting documentation. The Paralegal must be able to summarize findings in reports, objection letters, emails, and other correspondence.
  • May handle condemnation matters.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains critical dates, deadline notification emails and circulates to Operations Counsel, and other team members.
  • Facilitating communication between property owners, landlords, clients, lenders, and lawyers.
  • Reviewing, revising, and coordinating the execution of real estate and corporate governance documents.
  • Documenting processes, as well as maintaining hard copy files and electronic records in a centralized document repository.
  • Timely assessing and answering client questions and escalating to management when appropriate.
  • Keeping clients informed of progress made with real estate deals and closings.
  • Submitting accurate legal and due diligence documentation in a timely manner.
  • Performing legal and factual research.
  • Performing public records searches and filings.
  • Identifying relevant judicial decisions, legal articles, codes, and other pertinent material.
  • Organizing and analyzing information.
  • Cross-checking and validating information.
  • Preparing written reports and summaries.
  • Drafting and/or reviewing legal documents, including but not limited to some discovery and pleadings.
  • Coordinating with outside counsel of the preparation of discovery and pleadings.
  • Preparing, mailing, delivering, and tracking correspondence via Fed-Ex, U.S. First Class, Certified Mail, Facsimile, Email, or through E-File.
  • Coordinating the execution of documentation through DocuSign.
  • Organizing and tracking active litigation case files.
  • Reviewing and monitoring new and updated laws and regulations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of internal corporate policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating legal activities such as subpoena delivery, receipt, and/or triage information for timely response.
  • Preparing Executive Leadership summaries and PowerPoints.
  • Calculating and calendaring all pertinent Legal Department deadlines
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and functions within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
  • Maintains compliant with AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Extensive knowledge of real estate documents, contracts, applications, and submissions.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the corporate structure, prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in independent settings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates.
Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, or similar pre-law.
  • Post-bachelor's degree paralegal certification with a real estate focus preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a paralegal
  • Notary Public certification preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work environment may be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift to 5 to 10 pounds periodically as needed.
  • Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
  • Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • May be exposed to angry or irate customers.
  • Must be able to drive and travel as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
  • Mental alertness to perform the essential functions of position.
  • Ability to work after non-business hours as needed.
