A Brief Overview
The ECT Program Coordinator maintains a high standard of care and contributes to the provision of high quality ECT services by planning, organizing, coordinating and facilitating the delivery of care for inpatients and outpatients receiving ECT (Electro-Convulsive Therapy) in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The ECT Program Coordinator facilitates communication and collaboration between staff and other departments or units to ensure continuity of care and coordination regarding ECT patients. The ECT Program Coordinator contacts insurance companies on each to determine eligibility, coverage, to initiate the authorization process and perform concurrent reviews for ongoing care. The ECT Program Coordinator communicates and collaborates with patients and families regarding the ECT program, insurance coverage, fees for services and financial responsibility. The ECT Program Coordinator collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team members on ECT processes.

What you will do Care coordination for caseload of patient’s in the ECT department. Including receiving the initial referral, initial screening/education of patients, intake, insurance verification, consult assignment, liaison with inpatient/outpatient providers, assisting and guiding patients and their families with following through with their treatment plans. Ongoing communication with Ambulatory staff, anesthesia physicians, ECT physicians, and psychiatry staff for patient and ECT service issues. Utilization and review- Reviews prospectively, concurrently, and retrospectively for ECT patient’s appropriateness for service, level of care and length of stay. Facilitates and monitors institutions compliance with guidelines of California Welfare and Institutions codes section 5325-5337 as it pertains to ECT, which includes guidelines for consents, issues of capacity, scheduling ECT Committee Review meetings, consults completed by appropriate personnel, filing state reports as well as other details. Work with house legal counsel, Public Defenders, assigned conservators, physicians, and/or social workers to ensure compliance. Case management- Intake, referral, treatment planning, resource allocation, monitoring with and interfacing with allied inpatient and outpatient healthcare workers for patient’s treatment, progress updates and needs assessment. Education - Provides educational resources for ECT patients, their families, and hospital personnel. Administrative tasks- Scheduling OR cases, scheduling consults, tracking ECT numbers for insurance and regulatory purposes, filing reports, community outreach, collaborating with financial and registration departments at Stanford, maintaining/ordering ECT supplies. Position is back-up for Psych Admissions Coordinator
Education Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other medical field Required Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university Preferred
Experience Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience(e.g nursing, social work or case management) in behavioral health Required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the organization, operation, and services provided by an Psychiatry Clinic Knowledge of principles and practices of human behavior, mental and emotional health, mental health intake, assessment, and treatment referral processes Knowledge of HIPAA and applicable federal and state laws and hospital policies and rules regarding privacy Ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy with the client/patient population and their families. Ability to collect data, document accurate information/details, and maintain confidentiality of patient records within the electronic medical record Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients/clients and their families as well as faculty, medical directors, attending physicians, nursing staff, social workers, case managers, and other members of the multidisciplinary care-giving team, as well as SHC Patient Financial Services, insurance providers/third-party payors, outside mental health care-givers, and other representatives of external agencies. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Demonstrates empathy and interacts with patients, visitors and all personnel in a courteous, helpful manner. Ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner, and ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, families and co-workers. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $45.48 - $59.12 per hourThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
