Posting Summary Position Title Career Skills Coach (SNAP) Position Number 4675 Division Workforce Education Department Community & Workforce Education Job Description The SNAP Employment & Training (SNAP E&T) Career Skills Coach will work with individuals from community referrals and the MCC Adult Education program to strengthen job readiness and skills development for high barrier students by aligning the individual’s skills with locally available jobs, and creating an individualized education plan for placement and for career development within the occupation, portable to any business that hires for that occupation and skill.

The Coach will coordinate, track and administer National Career Readiness Certifications (NCRC) tests to community organizations, American Jobs Center Partners, and the Department of Health and Human Services. Services will include but are not limited to test administration, development of career plans, employment plans, implementation of WorkKeys Modules, placement support, linkages with MCC and community resources, and tracking student progress and outcomes. The Coach will work with MCC Faculty, Adult Education instructors and staff to identify employment opportunities and educational pathways.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

1. Develops individualized Career and Employment Plans by coordinating the assessment of student participants’ educational and career goals, skills, experience, and needs; providing educational and career advising.
2. Maintains testing records and evaluates test results and provides recommendations.
3. Schedules appointments for individuals to complete assessments.
4. Conduct Classroom presentations.
5. Administers National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) assessments within community organizations and MCC Adult Education program.
6. Maintains security of all assessment instruments.
7. Makes referrals to other support services, as appropriate.
8. Provides prospective students with general information about College programs and services.
9. Provide or facilitates individualized mentoring support which focuses on WorkKeys training programs through WorkKeys modules.
10. Coordinates referrals to/from project partners and college resources to assist students in successful completion of educational and career goals.
11. Coordinates with internal staff and faculty and industry to identify and establish opportunities for cooperative education, internships, apprenticeships, and employment in jobs.
12. Serves as a proctor for certification programs; establish assessment accommodations or exceptions for candidates with documented Individual Education Plan (IEP).
13. Maintain records and provide student data related to Integrated Education and Training (IET) Programs.
14. Coordinate employment with business partners for students as they complete their training program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of conducting tests.
2. Knowledge of student advising procedures as it relates to ESL, ASSET, and other testing facility functions.
3. Knowledge of College policies and procedures.
4. Skill in communication, both written and orally, along with excellent spelling, grammar, and editing skills.
5. Skill in resolving problems and answering questions.
6. Proficient interpersonal skills to collaboratively interact with internal and external contacts.
7. Strong skills and aptitude with communications and office technologies, for delivering workshops, updating online resources, engaging in online virtual education environments, and tracking, aggregating and reporting individual and service data.
8. Ability to pay close attention to detail.
9. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
10. Ability to provide direction and support to internal and external contacts.
11. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with diverse internal and external constituents.
13. Ability to ensure privacy and candidate compliance during testing, reporting breach of security or irregularities to the appropriate parties when necessary.
14. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
