We are seeking a Director, Digital Innovation Strategist for Research & Development to join the Digital Innovation & Alliances Team to identify breakthrough innovations and strategic partnerships in alignment with our business priorities of improving patient health outcomes, bringing medicines to patients faster and fueling tomorrow’s breakthrough therapies.

He/she will influence and lead with a focus on the future, identifying disruptive opportunities and strategic collaborations, anticipating the needs of all stakeholders in the health and life sciences industry, and conducting digital experiments and initiatives with the greatest potential for impact.

He/she will partner closely with Research & Development leaders across the company and key external stakeholders (such as academia, start-ups, healthcare and tech companies) to identify the most compelling experiments that position Pfizer as an innovator and deliver the greatest benefit to Pfizer and our patients.

He/she will have a deep understanding of the end-to-end business strategies and innovation objectives across drug discovery and clinical trials.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Scan market, Health and Life Sciences and Digital trends to identify and define disruptive business models, potential partnerships, and cutting-edge technologies that support Pfizer’s purpose breakthroughs that change patients lives

Prioritize, design, execute Proofs of Concepts / Experiments that are closely aligned with Pfizer’s strategic priorities, with clear definition of success and potential for scaling

Actively understand priorities and challenges of Pfizer R&D Business Units and be able to build relationships, navigate strategically and indirectly influence organizations to move initiatives forward 

Deliver on a wide range of short term and long-term strategic projects, strategy execution, and business development activities

Engage with the external ecosystem, such as academia, startups, healthcare and tech companies, to source partners for collaboration and position Pfizer as an innovator

Continuously track and evaluate consumer service-related innovations and other digital and technological advancements that we engage in that might be relevant to our business, and share with other leaders for the benefit of all Business Units

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Science

10+ years of Digital Innovation experience

Broad knowledge of technology systems and platforms

This individual is expected to have a deep understanding of the end-to-end business strategies and innovation objectives for drug discovery and clinical trials.

Experience in working with and/or assessing and evaluating a wide range of digital technologies such as SaMD, artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, big data analytics, and cloud computing.

Creative, entrepreneurial thinker, with proven record of not only generating ideas, but seeing them through to the launch of innovative systems and platforms

Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with leaders and experts across a diverse spectrum of fields, internally and externally

Ability to mobilize multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts (as appropriate) across the Company (e.g., Commercial, Digital, Business Development, Legal, Finance, etc.) to make decisions and manage escalations.

Have working knowledge of key enabling functions within large pharma companies including Business Development, Finance, Regulatory, Compliance, Medical, Commercial, Legal, Digital, Technology and Procurement

Project management skills (including resource planning) capable of taking a concept and carrying it through to the development of a POC and, ultimately, to launch in the consumer space

Proven experience developing executive team ready material and planning for strategic annual meetings for executives and leadership

Strong business acumen and analytical skills with proven ability to apply foundational strategy principles to a variety of business problems

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication and presentation skills with proven experience writing and delivering presentations to members of the management team and executive team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced science degree, or equivalent experience

Background in computer science, engineering, or software development

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

This is a global role which requires the ability and flexibility to work across various time zones.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
