Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT)

Job Summary:  The Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist participates in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Therapists are responsible for the initiation and management of Life Support Systems under the direction of the physician. The RRT may perform all tasks included in their license practice act within department guidelines and policies. The RRT must function with limited supervision, relying on their education and the guidance of the physician and supervisory staff.

Minimum Requirements:  Associate's Degree or equivalent (10 Years of experience as licensed therapist substituted for Associate's Degree). Graduate of AMA approved program. Successful completion of the National Certification exam administered by the NBRC. Successful completion of both the Certified and Registered exams administered by the NBRC. Current Louisiana State License or permit issued by LSBME and BLS certification; NRP; ACLS certification is required after 6 months of employment; PALS Certification required within 6 months of hire.
