Job Summary

Design, install, repair and trouble-shoot landscape irrigation system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Repair or replace irrigation valves, controllers, heads and related equipment. Design and install new irrigation systems. Assist in reviewing construction plans and installation of new irrigation systems installed during construction projects. Responds to on-call emergencies before/during/after normal hours of operation. This includes but not limited to:Fires, electrical outages, floods, icy conditions and any other type of campus emergency. Operate computerized central control system for campus irrigation. Operate 521 wire locator. Operate trencher, Bobcat and backhoe. Knowledge of AutoCad computer aided design. Track materials and hours used in irrigation projects. Knowledge of pump maintenance and installation. Drive a UTA owned vehicle. Considered essential personnel. Performs other duties assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma. Three (3) years of experience performing irrigation maintenance and installation or the equivalent experience. Valid Class “C” driver’s license (Or other states equivalent for driving a personal vehicle). Preferred Qualifications Accuracy in all phases of work performed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, valves, heads, pipe sizing and repair. Knowledge of irrigation programming, water usage and rain and freeze sensors. Other Requirements Working Conditions Must be able to work off of ladders, scaffolding, and tops/roofs of buildings. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to one or more disagreeable elements such as biohazards, toxic lab chemicals, poisonous gases dust, dirt, and the need to work in confined spaces, extreme cold or hot. Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, stand, sit, kneel and squat.
