Location Lonsdale What you’ll do IXD 203 – Interaction & Motion Design introduces students to motion design for screen-based interaction elements and digital storytelling. Students will examine the user experience principles of motion design as well as the social impact of digital storytelling. Students gain technical knowledge in image-making software and coding for dynamic media.

This course curriculum will need to be developed.

Instructors will be responsible for delivering a wide variety of human-centred, interactive design courses. Key topics include: UX design principles, advanced UI design, front-end coding (HTML & CSS), motion design, and design for emerging digital technology such as AR experiences.Instructors must be able to provide critical feedback from both a user experience and visual user interface perspective. They must also confidently advise on the technical implications and delivery of digital experiences.

This course includes 3-hours of class time per week and will be taught in-person at the Shipyards campus with content and assignment grading delivered through Microsoft Teams. A maximum of 1/3 of the classes can be offered online.

This course is part of the Interaction Design Diploma. What you’ll bring Required Qualifications Master’s degree or equivalent industry experience (5 years minimum)

Motion Design Software Proficiency: Adobe After Effects for animation Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for image creation and manipulation 3D animation tools (e.g., Cinema 4D, Blender) for advanced visual effects
Coding Skills for Dynamic Media: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for web animations and interactivity Libraries/frameworks such as p5.js or Three.js for enhanced interactive elements UX/UI Design Principles: Understanding of how motion design influences user experience and interface navigation Knowledge of using motion to guide users, convey information, and enhance storytelling Advance prototyping skills in Figma (or alternate software) Posting Detail Information Internal or External Position External Appointment Date (mm/dd/yyyy) Salary Scale $9,328 per instructional section.
