Temporary Painter

Apple Rehab Uncasville is situated in a quiet country residential community. We are a 130 bed facility specializing in Short-Term Rehab & Long Term Care, and we have a dedicated, secured memory unit. We have several APRNs on staff, RNs, LPNs, and Rehab staff trained in the LSVT Big and Loud program for people with Parkinson and Parkinson-like disease.

Responsibilities

Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessaryMake on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (. plaster)Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texturePaint surfaces according to instructions with various toolsApply varnish and other finishesCalculate costs and negotiate priceTake and adhere to all health and safety precautions

Requirements and skills

Proven experience as a painterExcellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply themSolid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniquesAptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns Good basic math skillsManual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.Conscientious with great attention to detailHigh school diploma; successful completion of an apprenticeship preferred
