Position Purpose

To assist with the supervision and coordination of the University’s overall sports medicine program, including, but not limited to: injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student-athletes, and athletics related to health care administration in consultation with and under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physician(s) and other qualified medical personnel. Education & Formal Training Other Education & Formal Training Bachelor’s degree in the following field(s) of study: Athletic Training, Physical Education, Physical Therapy, or related field required.

Master’s degree in the following field(s) of study: Athletic Training, Physical Education, Physical Therapy, or related field preferred. Computer Skills Word-Processing Experience One (1) year of proven experience as an athletic trainer.

Must posses or be eligible for Athletic Training Licensure in the State of Missouri.

Understanding and knowledge of NCAA and MIAA rules and guidelines. Other Experience Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements of Position: Criminal History check, Driver's license Other Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements License from the State of Missouri Board of Healing Arts as an Athletic Trainer or Board eligible.

Certification from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.

Certification in basic life support to Red Cross or American Heart Association including the
techniques of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and automatic external defibrillators.

Preferred but not mandatory, certification from Red Cross in First Aid or Emergency Medical Technician. Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal, Knowledge of a University environment preferred, Human Relations/Interpersonal skills, Leadership skills: organization/meeting facilitation/project leadership, Physical abilities: mobility/strength/dexterity/balance/coordination/endurance, Supervisory skills, including motivation, delegation of duties, evaluation, etc, Management and/or administration skills, Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines, Maintain confidentiality Other Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge Mental skills, including concentration, memory,
complex decision making, analytical thinking, and/or conceptual thinking.

Ability to perform basic life support and first aid techniques. Specify sensory abilities: Physical & Environmental Factors: Excessive standing and/or walking, Exposure to extreme temperatures Other Physical & Environmental Factors Occasionally lifting from the ground to waist high 50 lbs., occasionally assisting athletes from the ground, and rarely assisting wit h carrying of injured athletes with a stretcher.

Successfully demonstrate injury evaluation, first aid, and rehabilitation techniques. Lifting weight Special Working Conditions: On call/standby work required, Travel required, Irregular work hours, Work in stressful conditions Other Special Working Conditions Must be willing to work long hours, weekends, holidays, and during the summer for practices and games. Overall travel will be expected.

Must be willing to work with all types of people and demonstrate the ability to respond in a short amount of time. Ability to Keyboard No keyboarding test required. Special Qualifications: Other Special Qualifications
