Trainee Clinical Coder

Job summary
We are looking to appoint 2 Trainee Clinical Coders to join our friendly and hardworking clinical coding team. We are a supportive clinical coding department that would welcome anyone willing to come in and complement our aims to progress the department and to help the team to achieve our monthly coding targets. Our work is currently mainly office based (remote working available 1 - 2 times a month). However, the Trust will be implementing a full electronic patient record in 2025/26. Once this is available there will be increased availability of remote working.
Full training in clinical coding will be provided. Clinical Coders are able to move up to band 4 after completion of in house training and assessment and then a band 5 on completion of accreditation examinations.
Main duties of the job
To analyse patient casenotes and various clinical databases, abstract clinical information and translate this into diagnostic and procedure codes ensuring that the information is coded to nationally and locally agreed standards.
The interpretation and application of the correct code by the coding staff is fundamental to the management of the Trust, clinical governance and the production of high quality consistent data.
