Job Summary
The Locksmith performs skilled work that involves installation and repair of locks and doors, and fire and safety inspections
Reports to: Chief of Police

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
•Create and maintain master key system and record system for keys issued.
•Maintain requisitions of new purchases, and inventory of supplies and equipment including key blanks, lock parts, knobs, and cylinders
•Install and/or repair new or defective door cylinders
•Rekey locks, repair door closures/hinges, and all related door hardware
•Perform inspections of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, smoke doors and alarms
•Perform monthly preventive maintenance on all exterior doors, locking devices, and inspections of key pad codes
•Perform preventive security changes of key-pad codes
•All other related assigned duties

Education and Experience
•High School Diploma or GED

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
N/A

Skills and Abilities
•Ability to pick locks and make keys from impressions
•Organized and able to create and maintain an inventory system

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position has much interaction with all departments and department leaders within UMC

Physical Capabilities
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Work involves standing for extended period of time, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, and climbing

Environmental Working Conditions
This position is exposed to indoor and outdoor changing temperatures. Must be able to work in adverse temperatures or climatic weather conditions. Could come in contact with infectious diseases, toxic or irritant chemicals
