Summary of Benefits

Full-time and Part-Time team members (over 20 hours/week)accrue PTO at rate of 0.0423/hour during their first year. Exempt Employeesaccrue 16 days of PTO each year.


POSITION SUMMARY The Infection Preventionist is responsible to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and in partnership with the Administrator and Central Support clinical team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards of practice relevant to infection prevention and control. Plans, organizes, implements, evaluates, coordinates, and directs the center’s infection control program Coordinates and monitors compliance with current CMS, CDC, OSHA, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards of practice concerning infection control and facilitates related training and education programs. Coordinates and maintains team member and resident health programs including coordination of immunization and vaccination program. Facilitates regular review of the infection control program and interprets infection control policies and procedures as necessary. Leads the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. Reports on infection control trends and makes recommendations to the Center Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee. Reviews and analyzes infectious disease reports and diagnostics. Confirms completion of all appropriate follow up, intervention, documentation, and reporting associated with infections occurring among residents and team members. Tracks and trends infection occurrences and rates. Prepares summaries of infection data, with written and oral reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and regional leadership. Coordinates and facilitates the center’s outbreak and infection trend response and serves as a primary point of contact with local and state public health offices. Develops, coordinates, and implements process improvement to address infection control work practices and infection trends. Assists departments managers in evaluating and classifying job-related functions and tasks involving potential exposure to infectious disease and blood/body fluids and monitors infection control practices among team members for adherence to standard operating procedures to reduce exposure risk. Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents. Monitors compliance with guidelines for the decontamination and sterilization activities, disposal of contaminated or infective materials performed in the center. Solicits feedback and staff engagement to identify and correct areas of concern and to develop process improvement for the safe delivery of care and services. Develops, implements, and maintains orientation and ongoing education program for team members relative to infection control and team member health program. Participates in surveys and inspections made by authorized government agencies as requested. Completes specialized education in infection prevention and control. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to maintain knowledge and expertise relative to infection control, professional standards of practice, and regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience you need to qualify: You need to have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing. You must have an unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Minimum of one year of nursing experience in acute or long-term care. One year in a supervisory or management position with experience with staff development, training and scheduling preferred. Individual must be a team player, well organized, and flexible.
