We are currently seeking a  Sr. Buyer/Planner (Operations Planner) for our Medtronic Plymouth campus in Minnesota. This position is primarily on-site but also has the flexibility to be remote on an as needed basis.

A Day in the Life

In this exciting role you will become a value stream leader for all external service partners with the Plymouth campus. You will support business execution of ongoing and new programs and initiatives. The scope will include materials scheduling, capacity management, customer interactions with service providers, and coordination with internal stakeholders. You will monitor key performance indicators, manage capacity, and coordinate with cross-functional work teams to meet business objectives. Key stakeholders will include External Customers, Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, and Operations Scheduling team members. 

Sources, purchases, plans, and schedules the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related material through production and inventory process. Identifies raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules. In front-end procurement mode, analyzes data and determines factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Responsibility for consumption and inventory management at the external customers/service providers Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services. Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Responsibility for communication of supply health Representing organization as a prime contact Working in an SAP environment managing master data for MRP Troubleshooting master production scheduling issues Presenting information and communicating effectively to all levels Participation in tiered meetings to provide updates on material availability, and production priority changes Providing updates on key KPI’s

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree  Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Nice to Have

Experience working with MRP/ERP systems (strong preference or QAD and SAP) Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, etc.) or similar software. Strong data analysis, data management, and quantitative skills Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), team orientation, and ability to negotiate towards positive outcomes. Strong organizational skills and good understanding of team dynamics. Must be detail-oriented, with ability to connect the detail to higher level goals. Ability to identify patterns. Working knowledge of quality system requirements and good manufacturing practices. Experience working in a regulated environment (i.e., medical device, pharmaceutical) APICS and/or CPM Certification Cost accounting understanding/experience Understanding of contracts (supply, services, non-disclosures, etc.) Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt (or comparable training)
