American National is seeking a Senior Data Analytics Engineer for our Springfield, MO location. This role is focused on building and maintaining data pipelines, workflow managements tools, and orchestration within the P&C Operations. This role’s responsibility includes gaining knowledge of the company and industry, wrangling data, monitoring, optimizing, and supporting end-to-end Machine Learning capabilities.

What You’ll Do:

Helps create innovative vision and strategy, along with robust data architectures and end-to-end model process for new datasets. Works with stakeholders from various business areas by understanding data structures, data definitions, gathering modeling data requirements, aggregating data, and evaluating the accuracy of data elements and metrics. Develops automated data acquisition and data analysis process and determine best approach to address business issues. Maintains and optimizes the development, test, and production environments. Productionizes and operationalizes analytical models. Gathers structured and unstructured data for analysis using APIs. Assists in validating SQL queries in Git. Participates in the selection of tools and technologies, design of a common data acquisition process, and brainstorming new opportunities and methodologies. Proactively brings in new and innovative ideas and approaches to develop business solutions. Identifies, leverages, develops, and demonstrates expertise in emerging technologies, open-source tools, and harnesses new techniques. Researches and maintains awareness of industry best practices and business strategies. Interacts with leadership to assist in the development of strategic direction for the business or business partners. Leads complex projects related to large, complex business initiatives. Applies expert knowledge of emerging trends and industry practices. Serves as an internal thought leader and provides knowledge transfer and training on new tools and methodologies to less experienced staff. Mentors less experienced data engineer professionals.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree. Four to six years of experience. Additional Qualifications: A master’s degree will be considered in lieu of one to two years of experience. Must have strong communication and people skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field. Mastery of a wide variety of programming languages (i.e., SQL, Python, R) and frameworks, demonstrating strong skills in the development, articulation, and implementation of coding practices for the team. Extensive knowledge and understanding managing data to scale using data summarization, query and analysis software and tools (i.e., Spark, Hadoop, Fabric). Experience developing and managing complex projects and effectively leading interdisciplinary teams to accomplish project goals. Experience communicating complex findings in a clear and concise manner to management. Experience in cloud-based data infrastructure (Azure preferred). Proficient with insurance application. Experience deploying and monitoring model

Salary for this position can range from $88452.00 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $132678.00 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
