Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical unit, you will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. You will play a crucial role in ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care during their stay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, and create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members on healthcare choices, disease prevention, and management.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop comprehensive care plans, carefully delegate tasks, and follow up promptly.
- Utilize problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in care delivery.
- Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peers' development.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program.
- Licensure: Current and valid nursing license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
Skills and Competencies:
- Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of nursing laws, hospital procedures, and ethical standards in patient care.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic medical documentation, and information security.
