Patrick & Henry Community College is seeking a professional and team-oriented individual committed to the mission of the comprehensive community college with experience working with a diverse student population, including adult learners and at-risk students. The successful candidate will teach Biology and Anatomy and Physiology. Other duties include mentoring students while demonstrating genuine interest for the general welfare of all students; propose and schedule courses with approval of the Dean. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist with retention strategies; maintain a professional attitude toward teaching and professional relationships; ensure compliance with all policies and procedures of the College and the Virginia Community College System; create a student-oriented learning environment; evaluate student learning in assigned courses; and advise students. In addition, instructors are responsible for an additional hours of student engagement, maintain office hours, and attend faculty meetings. Responsibilities may include work during the day and/or evening classes for program placed students and non-curricular-students, as well as its distance learning programs. Mentor adjunct faculty as appropriate by sharing information, advice, and materials. Curriculum review of courses; revise/update course content as necessary. Responsibilities encompass all classes assigned, committees assigned, or other activities agreed upon between faculty members and administration. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications A Master’s degree in Biology or a Master’s degree with 18 credit hours in Biology. Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (oral and written communication), as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds. Technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
