A dedicated and proficient data engineer passionate about leveraging data to drive meaningful change in the financial industry. In this role, you will be uniquely able to significantly impact a critical project for a federal agency regulating securities-based swaps. Your expertise in data engineering, combined with your experience working with AWS Glue, Python, and Apache Spark, will be instrumental in transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that will shape the future of financial regulation. As a critical member of our dynamic, high-performing team, you will maintain and optimize data workflows, ensure data quality and integrity, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that address the agency's most pressing challenges.

The Skills
  • Five years of data engineering experience
  • Solid experience working with AWS Glue, Python, and CloudFormation in a professional environment
  • Strong expertise in relevant AWS Cloud services (such as S3, EC2, IAM, RDS, and Lambda) and understanding of cloud architecture
  • Proven expertise in writing, optimizing, and debugging complex ETL jobs
  • Proficient in scripting languages like Python and knowledge of SQL
  • Familiarity with data modeling and understanding of different data structures
  • Understanding of log monitoring and analytics
  • Experience meeting both technical and consumer needs
  • Experience testing software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
  • Knowledge of index migrations, debugging, and researching concepts is a major plus
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and experience using GitHub or GitLab for creating required pipelines for CI/CD
The Expectations:

30 Days

  • Familiarize yourself with the agency's existing data infrastructure, workflows, and security requirements
  • Collaborate with the data science team to understand project objectives and data quality standards
  • Begin optimizing and debugging existing ETL jobs to improve performance and efficiency

60 Days

  • Develop and implement new ETL processes using AWS Glue, Python, and CloudFormation to support evolving project requirements
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with business needs
  • Implement best practices for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to ensure data accuracy and consistency

90 Days

  • Continuously monitor and optimize data integration pipelines to support the agency's mission-critical initiatives
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of data workflows, architectures, and best practices
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of a data-driven culture within the organization
