What’s involved in this role:

We are looking for a Cheese Maker in Jerome, Idaho.

The Cheese Maker is responsible for the Cheese Make process to include recipe management and starter processes.

Oversee the overall Cheese Make area including recipes, vats and belt perimeters; making any necessary changes to ensure that all analytical testing meets specifications.

Responsible for Make instructions and all Make records.

Monitor all micro samples and assist with trouble shooting out-of-range samples.

Supervise the Assistant Cheese Maker.

Monitor the Starter Make and make any necessary adjustments/trials for bulk or direct-set cultures.

Immediately report any potential food safety issues to management.

What you need to join our team: 

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum five (5) years of experience working directly on the cheese makes process with emphasis on Vat Makes, recipe management and Starter processes required.

Proficiency in the art of cheese-making required.

Excellent understanding of fortifying, Protein/Fat ratios, FDB’s, Moistures, and functionality of cheese curd required.

Must possess the necessary skills and experience to maximize fat retention and yields required.

Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Our Jerome, ID, plant is home to about 400 employees and processes about7 million pounds of milk per day. This facility produces various types of cheese, including cheddar, monterey jack, muenster, mozzarella and provolone. It also runs various whey streams, such as deproteinized whey, sweet dairy whey, GMP, permeate, instantized and our top-rated BiPro products.
